High Quality Parts from CAS4
Yes you can put a
180 Tire on a factory Shovel or Pan Style Frame.
No you say, OK here it is !! And this is what you need. NOTE: PLEASE READ terms and conditions, BEFORE ORDERING PARTS OR TAKING ON THIS PROJECT (THE LEGAL LIABILITY SH_T).
If you have a tapered engine shaft, " some pans and early shovels" you can do this with an open primary only. But requires a bit more work. Below is a brief using a 1980 FX Shovel with a Splined engine shaft.
Using both these kits together
will get you a 180 on your bike.
|This sprocket kit alone will
get you a 160 on you Bike
|This transmission offset kit alone
will get you a 160 on your bike
These are the parts that you need -
1: 17 x 5.75 wheel
2: 17 x 180 x 55 Tire
3: Primary offset kit - chain or belt will work.
4: Offset Chain sprocket - required with enclosed primary.
5: Someone to extend your swingarm 1".
6: A fender and struts or a strut-less fender as seen here.
7: Standard 120 link " NON-O-ring " chain.
8: Axle spacers as needed.
9: Rear disk brake style swingarm, this may be a good time to convert to a disk from drum.
If you want to stick w/ a enclosed primary, you need to offset the primary by .25" and install a .25" offset transmission drive sprocket. Thus the .5" total will clear a 180. If you are running an open primary, you can achieve the .5" offset the belt kit. Call for details about open primary options.

SWINGARMS - FIND A FABRICATOR
OR MACHINE SHOP.
A 180 x 17 wheel / tire combo is about .75" shorter than a O.E.M. 16" wheel / tire combo. If you try to run a 16 or 18 wheel you may have clearance problems at the front of the swingarm.
You have 2 options about seat / fender height:
1: move the shock mounts on the swingarm back
2:Use 1" lower shocks ( as seen above in this project ).
